All Purdin Koi are produced by parent fish that have been tested and proved negative, for a wide spectrum of viral problems including SVC and KHV.

In addition, twice a year a significant number of baby Koi produced by these parent Koi are taken for PCR testing at Louisiana State Universities highly advanced and federally regulated regional aquacutlure laboratory, there are only a few of these facilities in the USA accredited to undertake this level of testing.

The testing process has been regularly undertaken by Purdin since 1990, and under the strict auspices of the USDA (The USA federal regulatory body responsible for Koi) since 2005. While no one at Purdin is ever complacent when it comes to Koi health, we are proud of our 100% negative testing record. This is important not just because it is, but also because without it DEFRA won't allow Koi from the USA into the UK!

In short all our Koi come from a single Koi farm - Purdin Koi Farm and PKF is regulated and tested twice a year for SVC and KHV by the federal authorities. Our Koi are therefore not subjected to the highly stressful heat ramping procedures now practised by most dealers in Japanese Koi simply because they don't need to be as they have essentially been in quarantine all their life!!
One of the key elements of all Scott Purdin's Koi is that they improve and develop with time, so while sometimes a little patience is needed we very much hope you enjoy your Purdin Koi and can rest easy that you are buying a safe virus free Koi and we can prove it!

All Purdin Koi are looked after by Bill McGurk one of the Koi worlds leading Koi professionals, so they leave PKF in perfect condition. The journey from Baton Rouge Louisiana to Golborne is significantly shorter and less stressful than the Journey from Japan and we are totally committed to providing our Koi with the best conditions possible.
